2017 Big Red Marching Band: Winds in the East

This year’s show is entitled Winds in the East, a steampunk twist featuring the music from the iconic film Mary Poppins. We open with soloist Kieran Ellis performing Winds in the East on flugelhorn.

Opening our mash-up of Spoonful of Sugar and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is piccolo soloist Courtney Zettlemoyer, joined by our chimney quartet. The show continues with the beautiful ballad Feed the Birds, followed by a medley of I Love to Laugh, Let’s Go Fly a Kite, and Chim Chim Cheree. We close with the lively Step In Time, complete with rooftop dancing and chimney-hopping.

The band is under the direction of Mr. Adam Tucker. Assistant band director and color guard director is Mrs. Tink Fazekas. Our head percussion instructor is Mr. Tim Wilson. Our staff includes Alex Blosser, Jeff Clement, Andrew Gottesman, Lisa Gribbin, Ally Hempelmann, and Shawn Zelner, as well as volunteers Sam Esquirell, Julia Flynn, and Derek Kostovick.

Drill design is by Adam Street. Music and choreography is by the incomparable Banderman Productions!

Captains this year include Carloyn Bean, Nestor Beltran, Sydni Bivighouse, Derek Booz, Trent Detweiler, Kieran Ellis, Chris Hanlon, Julia Markey, Karinna Martin, Ben Nase, and Zoe Platow. The band is led onto the field by drum majors Nathan Renner and Devon Kolumber.

The Big Red Marching Band would like to thank Souderton Area School District Superintendent Mr. Frank Gallagher, SAHS Principal Dr. Sam Varano, and all the faculty, staff, and community for their continued support.
