Interested in Indoor Percussion? Learn more…

Sad that marching band is over? Interested in indoor but don’t know how to play a percussion instrument? No worries!

While it might seem intimidating that we hold auditions for indoor percussion, please know that we don’t expect everyone to come in knowing how to hold mallets or play drums.

Mr. Zelner and Miss Knisely will be offering lessons and a chance to try out both battery and pit percussion instruments, starting this Thursday, November 8, at 5:30 in the band room. Lessons are open to anyone — you don’t need to have any prior experience, just come out and try it!

Remember indoor also features parts for synthesizer/piano, sound effects triggering, guitar, bass guitar, auxiliary percussion (things like the gong, wood block, triangle, finger cymbals, etc.), and marching cymbals. Not feeling musical at all? There are also spots for actors/dancers and tech crew. We can shape the unit based on the strengths of the students who try out so think about what you can bring to the table and don’t feel intimidated if you aren’t already a battery or pit player!

Also remember the introductory meeting for students and parents interested in Encore is Thursday, November 15th, at 7pm! Be sure to come out and learn more about the unit, the practice schedule, and this year’s show.

We are going to have an amazing season this year and would love to have you join us!
