Before you volunteer, you must fulfill the SASD volunteer requirements. BRBB volunteers are considered “Program Volunteers.” Program Volunteers shall be required to renew these clearances every 60 months.

1. GET CLEARED TO VOLUNTEER
The following forms need to be completed in order to volunteer for the BRBB:
To be completed every year:
- SASD Community Volunteer and Disclosure Statement (form available on the SASD website)
To be completed every 60 months*:
- PA Act 34 Criminal History Report
- PA Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance Statement
The two Pennsylvania clearances are free for volunteers and can be completed online. To apply online, go to the “Forms and Links” area at the bottom of the Volunteers page on the SASD website.
- The Federal Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) Report (including fingerprinting) is required only if you meet this criteria:- You have lived outside of Pennsylvania for any part of the previous ten years.
– You have been convicted of an offense under §6344 of PA Act 134.For Pennsylvania, the CHRI clearance process is managed by a third-party company, IdentoGO. More information can be found on the SASD website.
To be completed one time only (once & done):

2. CHOOSE YOUR ROLE
There are many volunteer opportunities to serve the BRBB.
Here are just a few examples:
CHAPERONE
- Helps supervise and support students—especially during travel, football games, parades, competitions, and other band events—to ensure a safe, organized, and positive experience for all.
CONCESSION STAND
- Supports the band by selling snacks and drinks at home football games and competitions—an essential (and fun!) way to keep fans energized and raise funds.
MIDDLE RED DRIVER & GROUND CREW
- Tows the trailer carrying “Middle Red” (the Gator), assists with loading and unloading equipment, and helps the band get on and off the field at away games and competitions.
BAKER
- Provides 24 individually wrapped baked goods for sale at the concession stand.
HARLEYSVILLE FAIR PARKING
- Helps direct traffic and keep the fair running smoothly — and every shift earns money for the Souderton Big Red Marching Band!
INDOOR HOME SHOW
- Involves a variety of volunteer roles, including ticket sales, candy grams, bake sale, parking, and other important hosting duties that help make the event a success.
OUTDOOR HOME SHOW – Celebration of Bands
- Offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, including ticket sales, candy grams, parking, and other essential hosting roles that help the event run smoothly.
